Creating a 1:N entity relationship between User and Account

Hi,

I want to open a user profile and then from the navigation field see all accounts related to that user (ownerid = chosen user). I can see from form customizer that i can add that through entity relationships, but i can not find a way to create a relationship between a user and the Owner field on Account form.

How can i do that?

There is already a relationship between account and user. That's why there is a view named as My Active accounts which shows all active accounts of the currently logged in user. Just add a subgrid.

In the form that you are trying to add this to - Click on Insert Tab on the form, and then select Insert Subgrid.

In the Subgrid, in the Data Source, select:

    Records: Only Related Records

    Entity: Accounts (Owning User)

    Default View: Active Accounts

You can specify your preferences in Additional Options.

    That should be it.

    Thanks for your answers!

I know i can add a subgrid, but that isn't exactly what i am looking for. I would like to see those accounts appear when i am opening an account associated view (Under common) that can be added to the navigation pane. Isn't there a way to do that?

So you want to open Account A and then see a list of all other accounts that are owned by User 1?

I don't think that you can enable this as an OOB feature. See screenshot below. The Display Option for the user_accounts relationship on the owning user field is set to Do Not Display and is read only, so it cannot be modified.

If you need this solution, your best bet is to have some logic to copy the owner field to another custom field that will have a relationship between account and user. You should be able to do that using a Workflow, Plugin or JavaScript.

Once you do that, you should have an editable relationship between user and account, and you will be able to display that in your navigation area of the user entity.

Hope this helps, although not ideal...
