Project accounting and management vs Project Operations after Oct 1st, 2024

Hi,

I'm looking for a 100% sure confirmation on fate of PMA module in d365 Finance. This thread (  ) states, that starting from Oct 1st 2024, Project module (PMA) in d365 Finance won't be available no more. That makes d365 Project Operations one and only solution for managing projects.

Does anyone have anything to confirm or deny this information?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Rafal,

The impact for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is only related to the licensing as far as I understood. The CRM based PSA and features from within F&O are combined in the license "Project Operations". For F&O, technically and functionally, it is still Project Management and Accounting, with enhancements for the Project Operations vision.

If you are a new customer and wants to use the project features of Dynamics 365 F&O, you have to acquire Project Operations licenses. Only current existing Finance users can continue to work with the Finance license until October 1, 2024 latest. When they are up for renewal, it might be converted to Project Operations earlier.

Well, it will be great news.. but the linked thread states quite clear unfortunately: "Customers who are not eligible by October 1, 2020 will be unable to access Project Service Automation or project management and accounting (PMA) capabilities after October 1, 2024". Which also goes in line with feedback from few of my coleagues from Microsoft.

On the other hand - all I have is only one, quite old, thread + some rumors, most probably based on that thread (and - probably - on some information from one of older Ignite sessions).

I think, I'll have to find my way to Gurkan Salk, the author of that announcement :-)

    Hi Rafal,

    The same blog post mentions:

Bringing together our existing Project Service Automation, capabilities from Microsoft Project for the web, and project management and accounting from within Dynamics 365 Finance is key to our vision.  Microsoft Project will continue offer project management (PM) and project portfolio management (PPM) solutions for PMO leaders. With the introduction of Dynamics 365 Project Operations, we will now include project management capabilities directly in the flow of work for our customers looking to streamline project-based service operations.

As part of this announcement, we will be grandfathering our current customers that are using Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation and/or the project management and accounting (PMA) capabilities within Dynamics 365 Finance into this new offering.

That's right, the blog states also few lines later: "Current customers will get access to migration tools and will be grandfathered into Project Operations licensing."

At this point there are no other news unfortunately on those "migration tools" or the process itself :-(

    Hi Rafal,

Andre’s answer in this thread is spot on. It is licensing impact only. MIcrosoft has not announced and has no intention to depreciate Project Management and Accounting module in F&O, it is a part of Project Operations family and stays as such.

Can anyone let me know where has been this been documented or referred to so that I can see to it in person and move forward accordingly.
