Other than through the temporary access via LCS Environment Database Accounts, are there any other options for accessing the D365 Financial Reporting Data Mart tables?

I have the same question (1)

    Hi sswiney,

No, there is no other access apart from creating the financial reports and the temporary access.

@André Arnaud de Calavon do you know if 3 years later this is still the case? We have Financial Reporting enabled in our F&O environment however would like to connect to it via other technologies in the stack such as Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Power BI outside of logging in to F&O and using the native experience.

    Hi Sswiney,

Check out this reference documentation. As highlighted by Andre, there are no other options to access the D365 financial reporting data mart tables.

There is a section on "Reset the financial reporting data mart for Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations".

    Hi ,

As mentioned by Navneeth, there was no change in accessing the data mart database. There were changes in how data will be exposed to other services like Synapse or Fabric. Instead of trying to get the data mart data, you can sync accounting entries and other master data and transactions using the Synapse or Fabric link. The financial reporter data mart is also a sync of transactions from Dynamics 365 Finance.

Thanks @André Arnaud de Calavon and @Navneeth Nagrajan for that insight.

The challenge for me is I am trying to replicate datamart tables from base tables exported via Azure Synapse Link, however I haven't got access to the underlying view definitions or stored procedures that build those final tables. For example, I am trying to recreate DimensionCombination, DimensionPeroidBalance, DimensionValue, Fact, FiscalCalendarView, Organization, Scenario. Do you know where such definitions and documentation can be found?

    Many thanks

I've submitted an idea here Microsoft Idea "D365 Financial Reporting Data Mart Access" and would appreciate your votes.

    Hi sswiney,

The data model of both Dynamics 365 F&O and the Financial Reporter databases is hard to understand. I don't know by head what exact tables to combine. That requires a thorough investigation. For AX 2012 R2, there was a data model description and some ERD diagrams. This was not updated by Microsoft anymore, and the data model has changed in the meantime. You can view the old ERD diagrams on a site hosted by Alex Meyer. AxErd Home. Note that the dimension storage depends on a feature that can be enabled in the application. See also: New financial dimension sets - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

My recommendation remains to take the Dynamics 365 F&O tables as a base. Unfortunately, I don't have documentation about the full data model.
