Upgrade from SQL Server Express 2005 to SQL Server Express 2012 or 2014

All of my customers are running RMS version 2.0 on the original SQL Server Express 2005. I have tried upgrading to SQL Server Express 2008 R2, but can not get it to attach to the RMS Database.

Is there a step by step guide to upgrade SQL Server Express 2005 to SQL Server Express 2012 or 2014?
