Change Decimal Points on Inventory Item

We have a situation where a client created a NON-INVENTORY item with ZERO decimal points - seems to have recorded whole items against the code and now learns that they need 2 decimal points - to record .25 units.

The Change Decimal points option on the Inventory Utility page states that the item in use on SOP document.

Questions

1. if we clear the SOP documents from OPEN will that then allow the change? or since they are on any SOP (open or history) are we stuck

2. can anyone confirm that PSTL will allow us to make the change without having to remove data

3. what happens if the developer of the integrated package, makes that change in the SQL table - what happens to the data - after the rebuild and reconcile of the inventory?

Thanks in advance - kind of a major issue.

Lyn thanks for the feedback - we will stop the integration of the SOP documents, clear the ones in OPEN and make that change.

    Thanks again.

For your Q#1, it is only the unposted SOP/POP transactions that you need to address. Having transaction history for the item will not prevent you from using the Change Decimal Place utility.

Off the top of my head, I'm not sure about Q#2.

For Q#3, I would recommend making the change via the GP utility instead of via a SQL update. (Is that what you were asking? I wasn't sure.)
