Can Management reporter get data from 2 different servers.

Hi All,

Is there any way we can get data from multiple databases in management reporter.

Scenario: In case of migrating from Dynamics AX R2 to Dynamics AX R3 in the middle of Financial year; Management reporter should display data from both these databases of R2 and R3.

This is mainly for getting YTD as well as last year financial data in one report of Management reporter after migration.

Please let me know if there is any way we can get data from both systems. Note that I have verified getting data from excel, and not satisfied with it.

Do your R2 and R3 systems run on separate databases?

Why do you need to integrate both? Did you do some data migration and if so can you explain how this was done?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

    Above is a sample scenario.

    For example,

    1. Consider AX R2 is used for all financial transactions till July 2017.

    2. and deployed R3 in a new server and all financial transactions from August 2017 are flowing to R3 server.

    3. Consider all financial transactions till July are available only in R2 database server.

Now, we need Management reporter to get data from both R2 and R3 as my income statement should display current month data from R3, and last year data from R2 system.

Hope this is clear. Please let me know if you need more details.

    Hi Suneel,

    Thank you for this information.

From what you mention about your R2/R3 systems, I assume that no specific data migration has been made, right?

If this is the case then you cannot create even the most basic reports (that are build on cumulative values) without the help of Management Reporter or other BI reporting tools.

    Do I understand that right?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig, Thanks for that. Me too have the same opinion.

Just now came across a link talking about consolidating data between multiple ERPs. Will verify.

    Hi Ludwig,

I have configured MR so that it is connected to AX database and Navision Database.

Company names in these both ERP is different and I am trying to consolidate data from both the companies.

I am trying to add Financial dimension link for the 2nd company in the row definition. Added new financial dimension link, but it is still showing first company(default) main accounts. How to get/select the main accounts of the other company here.

I have seen a blog from you where you could select Chart of accounts from 2 companies in one row definition in different financial dimension links. Could you please explain how to point financial dimension link to second company.

    Hi Suneel Putta,

The major trick is to include different row links in the report.

What can you see if you open the row link button?

What selections can you make there?

    Can you share a screenprint?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Ludwig Reinhard, Thank you for the reply. Please find the screenshot when I click on Dimension row link. There is no way to specify/assign company here.
