How to remove a Custom button that got installed by a Managed Solution

Posted on by 190

I have installed the Managed Solutions by Sonoma Partners to use the Editable grids earlier. However, after we got our CRM upgraded to D365, we implemented the OOTB Editable Grid provided by Microsoft D365. So now looking at removing the Custom Buttons that got added through the Managed Solution. I reached out to the Support team of Sonoma Partners and per their suggestion, I removed the Entities that showed up from SiteMap but still could not get delete the EditRecords from the Navigation Ribbon.

We don't want the Users to use that EditRecords button anymore. Any thoughts how to handle this.

Thanks In Advance.

I created a New Solution to add only few Entities and tried to delete it opening that solution from RibbonWorkbench. Followed the below link to create the New Solution.

Looks like you've added some unmanaged changes to button that avoid uninstallation of solution that contains that button. Can you please post a screenshot from Ribbon Workbench that shows that button?

Thanks Andrii for the suggestion. I did install the Ribbon Workbench , however I see the Delete Option is not enabled. Only Hide is available and even after I did hide it I still see it in the Ribbon. Does this mean I cannot delete the button using RibbonWorkbench as that button got installed by a Managed Solution. Any thoughts?

Then you  have to find that ribbon component that created that dependency, delete it using Ribbon Workbench and uninstall managed solution.

Yes. But it gives me below errors. Not sure what i am doing wrong here.

    Cannot Delete Component

Cannot delete RibbonCommand, because one or more components require it. Details If you contact support, please provide the technical details.

    Hello,

Have you tried to uninstall Sonoma's managed solution?

If you uninstall the managed solution itself, that should do it.  Otherwise, you can try the Ribbon Workbench in the XRM Toolbox: github.com/.../XrmToolBox
