How to free disk space on sandbox after deleting records - CRM online

Hi,

I have a sandbox instance of crm 2016 online. I copied to it my production instance with all data. The point is I do not need so much data on it and I keep on receiving alerts about disk space limit. I then deleted may records but the disk space is not updated and I have the same disk space used wich should not be so because of my mass deletion.

Any idea of what to do to make it effectice ?

Best regards.

Youcef

    Hi Youcef,

According to the 'Storage Limit Reached' email, it is mentioned that:-

"1. Delete any data that you no longer need. After you delete data, it may take 24 hours to reflect the deletion."

Might be because of this reason, it is not reflecting the data storage. While, try the following options to reduce data storage space:-

    Option #1

Most storage is consumed by email attachments, notes, workflows, and system jobs. As a result, be sure to reclaim some of the space used by these items. Read Free storage space in Microsoft Dynamics CRM

    Option #2

Read how to Reset a Sandbox instance? It will also help you to achieve the goal.

Option #3 Get it touch with Microsoft support team about it.

    Thanks.

    HI,

you could copy again and just select minimal copy, this copies all the config but none of the data, failing that i would do a bulk delete of email messages this clears up around 17GB for us each time. Also if you have auditing enabled on the production all the audit logs will be in the sanbox so remove these as they can take up vast amounts of space.

    Hi Zohaib,

    Thank you for you answer.

After deleting data I do not need on my sandbox instance, I waited more than 24h, in fact I did the cleanup 4 days ago....And the figures didi not change.

I do not want to reset my sandbox because I need somme of the existing  data and configurations.

I already visited the link you are pointing at, tried the options but nothing happens....

I am not very confident with MS support (I have another issue pending with them for a month !) but I bet I'll have to go for that

It seems like MS wants me to buy more disk space !

    Thank you anyway.

    Hi Youcef

What records are you deleting and how many? It may be that you are deleting records that do not take up enough disk space for you to notice? I normally delete all Emails, Notes and System Jobs. In our system that frees up around 50GB!
