Method to suppress update of Current Cost when Receipt Transaction posted

I'm trying to help a client with a problem and can't think of/find a solution in/for GP.

Scenario: Inventory Price List is calculated from current cost. Receipt for inventory is posted with the cost of the product being substantially higher (small rush order) or lower (bought out competitor at super good deal) than normal.

Problem: Now the current cost is skewed and my prices are automatically adjusted accordingly. They don't want to use Standard Cost because they don't want to manually update the cost. The above scenario only happens occasionally.

Has anyone else had this problem and how have you solved it? Any addons out there that do this? A possible solution I thought would be to have a checkbox on the Receipt line that would prevent the current cost from being updated for this specific item when the receipt is posted.

Your best bet is to use List Price as a calculation. It will not fluctuate as current cost can. It is a big change, but a safe one. Make the list price so that the margins are acceptable.
