Dimensions in the API

Hi,

We currently have an integration that is working with the REST API and we are creating a Sales Invoice and Sales Invoice Line.

However, we need to set the Cost Centre on the Sales Invoice Line which is a dimension.

Having referred to the documentation below it is unclear what calls need to be made.

Our scenario is detailed below if someone could advise which API calls need to be made to achieve this. 

Our integration will have a value for the cost centre of say 100. We then need to query via the API to see if cost centre 100 exists, if it exists we then need to get the GUID and set the GUID somewhere so that the Cost Centre is associated to the Sales Invoice Line.

    Hi

    So we are struggling a lot with this - nothing out of the box you would need an extension to create an API to create dimension values then another extension to allow you to do an API to update global dimension 1 or global dimension 2 (presuming its one of these).  If its not a global dimension then you will need to get into another extension to create dimension sets then once you have the dimension set also get an extension to update the sales invoice line dimension set.  If you work out anything easier would love to know!  We can now do all this but taken quite a few extensions to get us there.

    Hi Matthew, so it is now March 2023, did you get this in better shape or any more tips?  Any guidance would be appreciated

    There is still nothing in the API V2.0 to accomplish this "out-of-the-box" even for the default dimensions.  It seems like there is a page already but you still have to create a new "API Page", then create an AL extension, then you can hit it with the REST API per below
