All Modules disappeared after Code Upgrade from AX 2012 R2 CU7 to AX 2012 R3 CU11

Hi,

I am upgrading AX 2012 R2 CU7 to AX 2012 R3 CU11.

To start with, the Vendor Upgraded VAR layer.

I switch the layer to CUS layer and started with the Code Upgrade by executing the In-Place Code Upgrade checklist. As I could not see any of the modules when I initiated CUS layer code upgrade, I started it by opening the checklist from AOT ( Display Menu Item - SysCheckList_sysUpdateCode.

After I succesfully completed the CUS layer code upgrade after executing the checklist, I could see All the modules.

Moving forward, I switched to USR layer and started executing the checklist from client itself.

After i finished the checklist for Code Upgrade for USR layer, i simply restarted the AOS service and opened AX in USR layer, and all the modules again disappeared.

To troubleshoot it further, I opened AOT and perfomed Full Application Compile+ Full CIL + Synch DB, after this too I am unable to view any of the modules.

Can some one please help me resolve this issue.

How can I bring back the modules.

Would appreciate for some help.

Sincerely,

Muneeb

Did you follow the code upgrade guide? Once you have done the code upgrade, you need to export the modelstore.

Then you have to clone your Production AX database and AOS, and install R3 over it as per the upgrade documentation. That will flag your AX DB to be in Data upgrade mode, and during setup you will select your upgraded AXModelStore file. Once you start the R3 AOS installed on top of R1 and go through the Data Upgrade checklist without errors, the modules should show up fine. I would recommend to do multiple data upgrades in a Test environment first to be sure that you are familiar with all the steps, and ID conflicts and data upgrade scripts are all taken care of, and you have fully tested all your processes.

    Hi Vilmos,

Thank you so much for your quick response.

Yes, I am following the upgrade guide.

So as per the response above, if the modules don't show up after the code upgrade, we can simply proceed with the preparation & setup for Data Upgrade and carry out data upgrade task.

Once the Data Upgrade checklist would be completed without any errors, the modules would show up fine? Is this what you mean?

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

I believe so, yes. Give it a try on a Test virtual machine.
