Interaction Templates - Meetings

I am working on implementing contact management within BC14 and am trying to send a meeting invite as task or to-do.

I have ensured the following:

  • SMTP setup is complete
  • Interaction template is setup with an attachment
  • Salesperson has valid email address
  • Person contact has valid email address

When I create a to do that is type MEETING in the attendee scheduling defaults with the salesperson asa the to-do organizer and the send invitation Boolean is checked.

I can manually add a person contact and the send invitation Boolean is checked.

It saves as expected but the Invitation sent field does not update, nor are any emails actually sent.

If I go back into functions on the attendee scheduling page and select SEND INVITATIONS still nothing sends.

What am I missing? How do I get these to actually send the emails?

Any/all help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello,

The functionality behind the Send Invitations code was hidden due to incompatibility with the SaaS release (or WebClient). In WebClient you would get a message like:

"The operation cannot complete because it uses a feature that is not supported (.NET Framework Interoperability.)"

    Thanks.

Thank you Marco. With that said, is there any way to get a meeting invitation scheduled in Business Central onto the salesperson and customer calendar? That seems to be missing yet it was there in previous versions. That is the one huge gap I have in the process that I would like to fill.

Again, any assistance / feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hello,

Unfortunately, this functionality did never exist in any release of MSDynNAV WebClient, I just ran the scenario in Dynamics NAV 2016:

Since we are deprecating Windows Client, clean up does happen and functionality that did never existed in WebClient is hidden / will be removed as it is part of a cleanup process. The only possible way to move this one forward is to request it to be also be added in WebClient via https://aka.ms/bcideas .

A possible workaround OnPrem would be to use Outlook Synchronization. Here you synch the meetings to your Outlook. This functionality does have some pitfalls here and there but could be seen as what you want.

    Thanks.
