Roles and Permissions testing in Dynamics 365 - multi user testing

Hello Group,

As per my understanding, we cannot share user accounts (service accounts) based on Dynamics 365 License model. Dynamics 365 only offers named user or device licenses.
So, sharing an account would be a license violation and we could be sued by Microsoft and lose all of our partner benefits.

With that in light, do we have an alternate method for testing roles and permissions, which requires users with different roles to test a functionality
Do we need to have two users manually do the test?
I am a little unsure how RSAT works? does it have the capibility to test different roles and permission access?

Thanks,
Ankit

This testing scenario is from a business workflow performed by the clients who do not have access to the development SDK or development machine

This question was regarding a testing scenario, where you would need two different roles to perform an end to end testing scenario.
A normal user account should suffice, but in this case we would need two individuals performing and coordinating the test.

Migrating from Dynamics AX, where this was possible, we wanted to explore, if there are any possibilities of using non-personal ids.
But so far, in my research it does not seem like there is any such option..

A side question: I believe the Batch Jobs, also need to be run as a Normal User account, and when someone leaves the organization, we need to ensure, the account is replaced with another active account correct..

    Hi Ankit,

What restricts you from using a normal user account, assign the roles for testing, and change it when you need to test other roles or have other access? Is your question related to a production environment or testing of e.g. own developments?

    Hi AK,

If you have visual studio access, you can go through the below blog and see if it helps.

    Hi,
REST may not be suitable for multi-user testing, which was discussed in the previous old thread. For more details: Running Multiple user tests using RSAT (dynamics.com).
You can run multi-user testing by using the Performance SDK, for specific steps, you can refer to this official document: Run multi-user testing by using the Performance SDK - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn.
    Best regards,
    Kevin
