Transaction overview/report of invoice lines

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if it is possible to get an overview/report in D365 F&O that shows not only customer invoices (Free text invoices), but all detailed invoice lines included in the overview.

All kind of reports/transactions provide an overview of the invoices themselves, but not a detailed overview of invoice lines.

The thing is, that the one invoice often consists of a couple of invoice lines, with separate amounts and descriptions that we need to have in an overview, to reconcile accounts at the end of the month. All the transactions/reports in D365 that I know of, provide an overview of the invoices themselves and take the first invoice line with the first description and the amount that applies to the entire invoice. But I'd like to have the more detailed overview than that. Is it possible to get that kind of overview from D365?

Can you please provide screen print of one of such invoices along with the screen shot of the Accounting source explorer report (after selecting the maximum possible dimension set in this report) so that we can have a look?

I can generate the report but I am not seeing all the lines of an invoice. The total values are still showing in the revenue side but this can be made up on multiple items on an invoice. We need to see all the lines of a purchase and sales invoice including the description.

Hi NatalieTM,

Financial dimension set depends on your requirement and how detailed level you want to see your transactions in report.

I had selected four levels which is available with us like MA+RU+AG+DP. Sets can be created in multiple combinations as per the need.

In your case, it might be MA+CC+PJ and based on this combination you can generate this report.

Sourav Dam thank you for coming back again.

Our financial dimensions are Main Account , Cost Centre and Project. You appear to have additional levels, is this why you can perhaps see more detail than us?

Hi NatalieTM,

This is for my understanding; the purpose is to display the breakup of posted invoice in more granular way where all individual lines within invoice will appear including description on each line as you mentioned.

As per that, Accounting Source Explorer report shows the way it is. As you see, this is a sales order posted invoice "106000000098" for which the account entry description, posting type for each line along with ledger account with dimension combination and account name are also appearing.

If you kindly specify what exactly it is missed out in this report in this context, then it will be more clear to understand for me.

Hi Sourav

Thank you for your response but unfortunately the accounting source explorer appears to show the total of the invoice value rather than all individual lines within the invoice. We need to see all lines within an invoice, including the unique description on each line. The invoices only appear to split where different financial dimensions are used.

Hi Sezi and NatalieTM,

You can check this report available in GL module.

General ledger > Inquiries and reports > Accounting source explorer.

Once the form opens, select the financial dimension set and system will generate the report with breakup of the same voucher (shows multiple account posting along with posting types).

But depending on the volume of records, report generation may take time.

You can click on 'Export' tab on the top to download the record in excel.

Else, you can also use 'Export to excel' from right top corner in the form to download report in excel.

Hi Sezj,

You can try customer transactions to check if it satisfy your requirement.

For this purpose, navigate to Account receivable > Customers > All customers and then choose a customer and click on "Transactions"

Once the form get opened, refresh the browser so the form will be updated with all customer transactions (CustTrans Table), Then you can export data to Excel.
