eConnect affects other services in my laptop

Hello,

We would like assistance with the following issue. It seems as the eConnect for Microsoft Dynamics service affects the use of our check scanner attached to the same computer. The scanner worked fine prior to eConnect being installed. This is a Windows 10 pro laptop. The scanner look for a service that use localhost on the laptop to do deposit transactions, and after troubleshooting we find out that when the eConnect service is disable, the scanner works fine. We would like for both the scanner and eConnect to coexist on the machine without having to disable eConnect.

Another point to mention is that when the eConnect service is running and we do attempt to do a deposit we received a 404 not found error.

Now on the URL for the not found error it start with localhost followed by the site token, if we replace localhost with the actual 127.0.0.1 it works, but you can imagine changing this every time is annoying so opted for disabling the service. Hope this information helps to find a better solution.

    That is an interesting discovery...

I've always wondered what ports eConnect is using and it looks like it's hijacking port 80.. which is a bad habit and should be reserved to some default web site, not eConnect.

On the other side, unless you're running some Integration Manager processes that requires eConnect to be installed, I'd turn that off completely or dedicate some other workstation for that purpose.

Ok, I was almost thinking that maybe a port was being blocked. Thanks for the information.

As we don't see many cases with this issue, I imagine customers are finding a type of work-around similar to you mentioned here.

    Thanks again

@Derek - This is actually a pretty common conflict.  We first ran into it years ago with Bank of America's scanner and recently ran into it with a GP 18.3 upgrade with Union Bank's web-based scanner.  IT at the latest client who ran into this reported that eConnect was blocking port 80 when enabled.  (I did not do any troubleshooting as in all the instances eConnect was not needed for integrations on the machine doing the bank deposit check scans.  Disabling the eConnect service allowed the bank deposit scanning to resume.)

I'm not sure if I've ever seen or heard of this type of issue, interesting.

So, you mentioned the scanner looks for a service that uses localhost on the laptop to do transactions, which the eConnect service seems to cause issues with.

Is the eConnect and the scanner using the same service account? if so, maybe change the service account running one or the other and test that?

I'm not really sure how we would troubleshoot an issue like this, as the install of eConnect really only allows us to specify the service account to be used and which features are installed.

Understanding you want both the scanner and eConnect to be on the same machine, it may be that there is one machine for the scanner functionality and another for eConnect processing.

Maybe someone in the forum community have run into a similar issue and/or may have some suggestions as well.

    Thanks
