Need Additional Address Lines for data import to Biz Central

Posted on by 17

Hi All

Currently cleansing data.
The current ERP system has delivery and site addresses with
Name
Address Line 1
Address Line 2
Address Line 3
Address Line 4
Address Line 5
Town
CIty
Post Code

Will be using Biz Central with D365 Sales as add on app with bi directional flow.

I have asked functional consultant if we can surface more address fields to input source data.
Get sent Biz Central Customer and Vendor Templates with Address 1 and 2?
I can see at least Address Line 1 to 3 on D365 Sales on the Account and Contact pages so must be possible?

Everyone must have same problem?
Am used to back end data imports with appropriate mapped data files - do you have to use data templates to import data? Seems old fashioned.

Thanks

RE: Need Additional Address Lines for data import to Biz Central

    Hi Daniele

Thank you for the quick reply. Can More than 3 Address lines be surfaced?

To re map to 3 lines with some of the data is going to be problematical.

Text length is very short at 50 characters to squeeze in all the information.

I note US versions use City - Although in UK we use Towns.

Can Town and City be shown? Or is it a case of Mapping UK Town to City

RE: Need Additional Address Lines for data import to Biz Central

    hi

it is possible to surface more address fields in Business Central for inputting source data. The functional consultant should be able to configure the system to expose the additional address fields for the customer and vendor records.

In Dynamics 365 Sales, the Account and Contact pages allow you to input at least Address Line 1 to 3. These fields should be mapped to the corresponding address fields in Business Central.

Regarding data imports, it is not necessary to use data templates to import data into Business Central, but it can be helpful. Data templates can help ensure that the data is correctly formatted and mapped to the appropriate fields in the system. They can also be used to prepopulate default values for certain fields. However, you can also import data using other methods such as Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, or other data sources.

It is important to note that regardless of the method used to import data, it is critical to ensure that the data is clean, accurate, and properly formatted before importing it into the system. This can help prevent issues and errors that could impact the integrity of the data and the system as a whole.

    Daniele
