I need to hide the + button on a sub-grid based on the status of the parent record.  Is there JS which would control this?

I am assuming you are on 2016? I am afraid there wont be a supported way and any DOM manipulation is even trickier with new turbo forms since 2015 update 1. If you confirm your crm version, entiy and grid details (mainly system or custom), I may provide some unsupported JS to try.
