When trying to issue certain components I get the error message "This unit of measure isn't on the unit of measure schedule for this item." I check the item in the item maintenance screen and it matches the UoM that is listed on the transaction entry screen but i still get the error.
How do i fix this?

Try running Checklinks on UOM Schedule Setup and Item Master. That should resolve that issue and then you can reset the Base UOM in P Options.
i was able to figure out that much but now i have a new issue. The base U of M in the purchasin options maintenance screen that is assigned to the item doesn't actually exist within our UoM scheudle. How does that happen? we now can't issue the item because it won't match in the system even the the system will allow us to issue because we can match them.
is there a way to change the base UoM in the purchasing options maintenance screen to what we need it to be in the schedule?
Check the Component UOM in the BOM and make sure it matches the item UOM. I've seen this error when a mismatch exists in the BOM - usually a result of importing the BOM.
