create item according to number sequance of itemgroup in D365 Fo

hello everyone ,

i need to create new item which depend on creating itemgroup Number seq ,

for example , i have Itemgroup (PP,CC,...etc) when open new released product form ,

i have to choose first the itemgroup , then make clicked button to generate new item sequenced according to itemgroup ,

let me suppose that i choose (PP ) so after click "on my customized button" it created item with name (PP_0001) next time will be (PP_0002 )..etc ,

First question is: why do you want to duplicate the item group id in the item id?

Anyway, you can definetely develop a customization where you can set up different number sequences for each item group. But it's not available out of the box.

The standard system has a quite recent functionality where you can have different customer account number sequences for different customizations. You can check it and use it as inspiration.

HI,

You can extend the create number sequence method in x++ and add some logic in your table ,

When the condition is (PP,CC,...etc), the value of numbersequence is the specified list such as (PP_0002 )..etc.

Hy Mostafa,

from a business perspective you should clarify what is the business value of this and how much is the real $-value for such a customization.

There are as much options to differnciate items, item group is almost available at all processes and reports.

If you need it displayed or for navigation It would be also o non customization option to create additional product category hierarchy (same as itemgroups) and assign the items (which is also duplicated data).
