Rollback during Install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 Cumulative Update

I want to update my NAV 2015 installation with the latest Cumulative update. I use this document:

https://mbs2.microsoft.com/Knowledgebase/kbdisplay.aspx?scid=kb,en-us,3021418

I have an unmodified Database so i imported the fob file from the update and synchronized the objects.

After that i uninstalled Microsoft Navision Nav on the server (this was one of the options in the document). Then i started an new installation. At the end the complete installation is rolled back.

In te installation report i read:

"The service 'Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server [DynamicsNAV80]' (MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DynamicsNAV80) failed to start. This can be caused by one of several issues. For example, the password for the account that runs the service may be incorrect, or there could be a conflict in port sharing for the port settings for the service, or you have specified that the port for the server should be opened in the Windows firewall even though the Windows firewall is not enabled on the computer. For more information, see the event viewer."

In the event viewer i have several errors. The first one is:

"Server instance: DynamicsNAV80
User:

Type: Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Types.Exceptions.NavSqlException
ErrorNumber: 0
SuppressMessage: False
SuppressExceptionCreatedEvent: False
FatalityScope: None
Message: The XXXXXXX database on the XXXXXXX01 server must be converted by Microsoft Dynamics NAV Development Environment before you can use it with this version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server."

I checked all settings and think they are OK.

I've just started with Nav so i need some help. Any idea's?

Thanks for responses.

First try to convert the database from development environment.

You can go to DVD\RoleTailoredClient\program files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\RoleTailored Client

    and run the Finsql.exe

convert the database and try to install again.

    Did you remove existing servicetier?

You're right. I removed everything so I don't have an NAV Application Server Instance anymore. When I try to start the convertion he gives me the error I cannot connect to an instance. Next question is how to create one?

    Hello,

It is like Mohana has said.

Sometimes the update of a version requires a database conversion. To do so you must open your database with the updated Finsql.exe file (you will find that in the DVD downloaded).

You will know when you need to convert the database because if you check the post where the CU is announced it will say so. Extract from the following link:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/2015/08/13/cumulative-update-10-for-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2015-has-been-released.aspx

Note: You must convert the database if you are upgrading to this cumulative update from a cumulative update earlier than Cumulative Update 9 (build 41779). For more information, see Converting a Database in Help for Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

To create a Dynamics NAV instance you can use the Administration Tool provided with the DVD alongside the server and clients.

Check this link for more info:

If there is no servicetier available now then you can install now without any problem I guess.

After installing the administration Tool I needed to install the server before I was able to create an instance. After that I was able to do a database conversion.

At last I installed the other components again.

    Installation succesfull!
