Business unit filter in Row definition - Consolidated financial reports

ReportReport

Dear Members,

I have a requirement to create a consolidated reports involving multiple entities, but by a restriction of business unit filter in row definition. For example, There are 2 companies Company A and Company B, both have same Chart of Accounts and a consolidated financial report is been created involving both entities. When we create a row definition for the report for example  Building, the value of the building must be from only one entity not from both entities. I’m aware of the business units filter in column definition. But we need the same in row definition. I tried using a hidden field from page inspect “Business unit filter” but when I select a company it’s not being saved. Do anyone aware of this field? Is there any standard functionality to achieve this in business central?  Or please suggest me a solution to achieve this requirement.

Thanks in advance,
Sneha

    Hi Sneha,

Could you please check if this can be achieved using the new Excel reporting feature? You should be able to format the data, upload it, and the report will be available for future use.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

As far as I know, it may not be possible except customization.
You can submit this idea to Microsoft.

In Business Central, the Business Unit Filter works in column definitions but not in row definitions for financial reports. To achieve entity-specific values in a consolidated report, consider using dimensions to filter data, separate row definitions per company, or leverage Power BI for better consolidation and filtering. Since the hidden Business Unit Filter in Page Inspect doesn’t save selections, it’s not a reliable option. If necessary, custom AL development can enable row-level filtering.

    Hello,

Yes the Business Central's account schedules don't natively support row-level business unit filtering, you can create separate account schedules for each entity and then combine the results manually or through a custom report.

But If your entities are set up as Dimensions, you can use dimension filters in your account schedules. This might require some restructuring of your data, but it could provide the flexibility you need.

    Or

You might need to create a Custom Report using AL code.

    Or

For more advanced reporting needs, consider using Power BI. You can connect Power BI to Business Central and create highly customized reports with complex filtering and visualization options. Power BI allows you to create measures and filters that can handle your specific requirements.

Since the "Business unit filter" field you mentioned isn't saving your selection, it might be a limitation or a bug.

This is not possible using standard functionality. This is when third party reporting tools such as Jet Reports would come in handy.
