ParentActivityID not being filled in MSCRM 2013/2015

Hi ,

I have few email activites where regardingobjectid is not filled.

So I tried to query in adv.find and observed that those emails do not have parentactivityid filled and those emails are replied/forwarded mails (I suspect )are coming from OUTLOOK to MSCRM, because when I forward/reply to a mail from MSCRM both regardingobjectid and parentactivityid gets filled.

I would like to know what is the main purpose of parentactivityid. And if you are replying/forward mails from OUTLOOK to MSCRM will parentactivityid be filled. Is this the reason why regardingobjectid is not being filled?

You will see value in ParentActivityId field only when you replying/forwarding to an existing email. This field holds parent email record id inorder to connect reply email to exisitng email.
