Templates Not Working

I am working e-mailing PO's directly from GP, but get "A Word template must be assigned before sending this document."  I have been reading instructions on creating and configuring Word templates.  I see the POP Purchase Order Blank Form in the Template Configuration Manager, and it has been enabled. We are using a Modified form in GP.  If I try to create a new template using either an existing Word document or a blank document, I get the following message:

Unhandled object exception:

This is not a valid file name.Try one or more of the following:* Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly.* Select a file from the list of files and folders.

EXCEPTION_CLASS_OBJECT_EXCEPTION

ExceptionSubClass:-2146823136

We are still on version 13 without R2. I'm not sure I have the GP Add-in for Microsoft Word, because I cannot see the Field List on my Developer ribbon in Word.  We recently moved to Office 365.  I am wondering if there might be a setting somewhere that is keeping GP from recognizing the templates.

Can anyone tell me where to begin looking for a solution?

    Hi,

Did you use the Template Maintenance window to assign that template to your company as the Default template. See image below:

    AssignDefaultTemplate.png

The 'Set Default' button will be available when you first mark the template.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

As to your Add-in question, if you do not have the Field List button, you will need to install the Add-in. You can install it from the GP Installation program.

    Kind regards,

You will need the GP install software. When you run setup.exe for GP it should come up with a menu that shows additional products. Select the one title Microsoft Dynamics GP Add-in for Microsoft Word.

Note: I just installed this a couple days ago for GP2013 R2 and the GP Add-in install appears to be workstation and user specific so be sure your security settings allow the user who will be using the Add-in has the rights to install software. You can always revert to previous security setting after the install is complete.

It looks like this was my missing piece.  I was able to e-mail a PO to myself.  I need to figure out if I have the modified one or the master, but I'm on the right track.  Thank you!
