Linking Products to Business Units

Hi

Can you link a Product(s) to a business unit?

I can only see users being linked to BU's.

I want to link products so users can only see products that they have security right to see.

    Products are organization owned entities, therefore, they are not attached to Business Units.

    You need to think about few things.

    If a product can be linked to multiple Business Unit and a Business Unit can be linked to multiple products then you need N:N reltionship and the system won't let you do it.

    You can create a 1:N relationship between Business Unit and product. It will let you create lookup on product entity.

    This one is important. Product is organization owned entity. So does not matter what you can stop few users to read them.  What it is means is every user can read the product or no one can.

    Anyway what you are trying will be very hard to manage using BUs. It would have work if the slaes manager and its sales people sit in the same BU. Thats why there is a relatioship between users and BUs.

    I would say create a relationship between user and prosuct to capture manager on the product. when a opportunity is created or product is added to the an opportunity share that opportunity to the manager assigned on the product. You can write a plugin for that.
