Check printing causes 6201 error: printer specified can not be found

I have a user who is getting errors printing checks. They have a LaserJet dedicated to printing just their checks and the other users can print to it just fine. This one user can print other files to that printer and test pages print fine. However printing checks gives the error 6201 Report execution failed. Error = 56029 The printer specified can not be found. It may not be accessible in the current security context.

We have reinstalled the printer with updated drivers, changed to TCP/IP ports, and made sure the Solomon.ini file doesn't contain any records for any printers. We have made sure that the printer in printer setup is the correct check printer as well.

Is there anywhere else SL might be looking for a specified printer?

You will either have to install Crystal Reports on that workstation or go to a workstation that has it installed to take the steps I have suggested.  You get a license for Crystal Reports with your SL license so you do not have to purchase it separately.  Installing the SL client only installs the Crystal Reports runtime.  Keep in mind that my suggestion may not be the cause of the problem but it is a possibility so it should be checked out.

The issue is the user doesn't have Crystal Reports installed on his workstation. All he has is SL Client and Management Reporter.

All Dynamics SL menu items that print something whether it be a report or a check do that using reports created in Crystal Reports.  You did not directly specify but I am assuming you are talking about AP checks.  There are several different reports involved with AP checks depending on which report format you select.  All of the AP check report names are of the format 03620x.  For example, the laser check form report is 03620L and the multi-stub report is 03620S.  You can determine the exact report name by going to Administration and opening the report control menu item and then enter the report number (03620 for AP).

Once you have determine which report is being used, launch Crystal Reports (not sure why you stated management Reporter since that is a different tool for creating financial statements) and open the specific report name.  All the AP reports will be in the AP folder but you should also look in the Usr_Rpts folder because that is where customized version of standard reports should be stored.  SL always looks in this folder first when launching a report.

When you have the report definition open in Crystal select File and then Printer Setup.  In the upper left corner is the No Printer option.

It's not really a report but a direct check print. That being said we can open Crystal Reports through management reporter but I do not see any printer options there.

There are a couple of possibilities.  First, this report may have been saved requesting a specific printer (via the printer options button).  Or, this report could have been modified by Crystal Reports and, under printer options, you unchecked the No Printer option.  Open the report using Crystal Reports and make sure the no printer option is checked.
