Hi All,

We are using AX 2012 R2,there is a requirement regarding user rights.

1. In  journal  level, we would like the Journal names to be restricted for  certain users group .
2 In the  Journal Lines level, we would like the Account Type -Ledger-Main Accounts selection  also to be controlled based on user group.

Please let me know how can I modify  the user rights for this requirement.

For Point 1: see the Journal Name Setup Form and check "Private for user group" field on this form  , if it can do your job. Please check below:

    Hi,

Why do you want to use record level security or XDS if the standard form already has features for limiting the access?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Using "Private for user group "option in  journal names we can restrict users but for the second requirement what was the standard feature ,if so it is more helpful for me.

    Thanks

    Dhanya

    Hi,

Please check out the posting restriction functionality, which allows restrictions by user groups.

If you make use of the journal controls then you can restrict the accounts that can be used in the journal.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Dhanya,

Go to System Administrator >> Common >> User Group

    1. Create a user group and add specific users in that group.

Go to General Ledger >> Setup >> Journals >> Journal Names

    1.  Select  the journal, which you want to restrict for certain users.

    2.  After selecting Journal, check right-hand sides, In General Tab go to Blocking and select the user group, which you have created for certain users.

    3. So it will be visible to that users which are added in that user group.

the second point, you can do that per journal, not per user group

just select your journal and click journal control as the following

Right, we can do this as you suggested. But can we use record level security for this?

I want to explore Record level security, I have never tried this. Please let me know if you have any document for Record Level Security.

    Thanks,

    Jay
