Printers reduce 1st page on RMS reports.

Posted on by 35

In RMS Store Operations Manager (2.0.0105 on Win 7), any report run and selected to print looks perfect in 'print preview' but the printer always reduces the 1st page to the size of a postage stamp in the upper left corner--all succeeding pages print fine.  I've tried updating drivers, using different printers, reinstalling POS.  The only way I can get it to print successfully is to make changes to the printer (any change) and then print to Adobe PDF and this only works about 50% of the time.  Has anyone encountered this and discovered a solution?

I would also recommend going through the article on Customer Source that deals with this issue.

The first page of a report appears as a thumbnail image in the store logo area when you try to print reports in Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System Store Operations or in Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System Headquarters

Otherwise another step that will sometimes resolve this is to use the Generic Text only printer.  Fishhead is correct however that this is a very sporadic issue and has varying causes.

This issue seems to happen with all printers. There seems to be little you can do to fix it short of printing the first page twice, or changing a print setting right before you print each time. The weird thing is that it happens sporadically and with no rhyme or reason that I have been able to notice. I will say that it happens very rarely, hardly at all, now that I am using a laser printer.

    Tony,

This is a known issue.  The most common cause is a permissions issue with the printer.  Please make sure that either Everyone or your specific computer have full rights over the printer.
