Custom reports from MS Dynamics POS 2.0

Running MS Dynamics POS 2.0 and need to make custom report to compare item sales from last year 3rd quarter and this years 3rd quarter to see item sale trend.  Also to have report show current item inventory quantity.  Currently have to generate to different reports, flipping back and forth, then viewing the item to get quantities.  Need faster way with it all in one window.

Also is it possible to upgrade from POS 2.0 to the latest POS version, using the existing database without having to redo it from scratch, import old database into new software if you will?  So all my inventory, history, etc would be in new software?

Thanks if anyone has advice.

The custom report I could write for you,  it would take some time and there would be a fee to do this.  email me at ed [at] bmepos.com

It is possible to upgrade to the latest POS version which is called POS 2009,  which is a microsoft supported upgrade path.  You could also convert to RMS 2.0 but would need a lot more work and microsoft does not supply the tools to do this.  Also just a warning, if you bought the system as part of the First Data Merchant Services (FDMS) program from your processor then you are not in the Microsoft system called VOICE and they will not let you upgrade, you would have to purchase a whole new license for each lane.

Would it be possible to Export the database to a CVS file and Import into another POS software (whether it be MS Dynamics 2009, RMS or something else)? Can the Database be opened by a Database Software (i.e. Access or OpenOffice Base) and queries be done on the data that way?

    Thanks
