Issue at importing contacts and companies with date columns

I use Excel sheets to import data from SF.

Now run into an issue what is related to the date data I will import. All dates with days between 1 and 12 have no problem. But all dates greater than 12 goes on error.

In Excel the internal date format is used, the transformation runs into CRM 365 so my opinion.

I have a german CRM and use german Excel, but also if I change the format to English(US) I get the same error.

Did anyone has an idea what to change to avoid this issue?

Best regards

Ingo

    Hi Ingo,

Date formatting is tricky. Can you change the excel file into a CSV flat file? If you do that and open in Notepad you should see the formatting misalignment. If the dates do not convert to excel funky numerical values (minutes from the beginning of the year I think), then you should be able to import that csv.

Let me know how far this gets you.

    Hi Tom,

    thank you for your answer!

I found a workaround for the issue, now I use a XML file for the import. I tried also CSV but I get in trouble with other topics.

The D365 support commits the issue to import XLSX date data in D365 instances with other languages than English (US), because of the transformation runs in the cloud and independent from the locale OS language settings.

    Best regards Ingo

Enter Date in "MM/DD/YYYY" format in Excel sheet only. Even if in CRM field you have dd/mm/yyyy, After Creating Record it will automatically changed to dd/mm/yyyy format

Hello. I have the same problem. I'm trying to import data into Dynamics 365 and the date field is always invert. For instance, the date is December 1st. CRM show Jan 12. I try to switch the format in the excel I try with DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY and YYYY-MM/DD. But CRM always shows Jan 12 instead Dec 1. Any idea?? Thanks!!

    Hi,

I think i faced this before,

    1. Import using excel, CRM will always read as US date which is mm/dd/yyyy, so any excel column with format dd/mm/yyyy please format to mm/dd/yyyy.

Foloow up by CRM personal datetime setting, you must set datetime format to US format which is mm/dd/yyyy only able to import successfully.

    2. Second method is that import using CSV flat file, datetime format must same across CRM and CSV, dd/mm/yyyy.

Please correct me if i am wrong, Thank You.
