Hi,

I see below notification in LCS environment page to enable power platform, can anyone help me to understand the impact on licensing cost and on selecting template if we are choose No’-use a different power platform environment.

*Currently not using any duel write, virtual entities or power platform related integrations

Action required: Enable Power Platform Integration by April 30, 2025, to keep this environment supported for expanded Finance and Operations features.

Thanks!

    Hi CU21052024-0,

As Andre has rightly mentioned LCS will be replaced by PowerPlatform in the future. If you select No - Use a different PowerPlatform environment your licenses, SKUs and power platform capabilities remain intact and won't impact your license costs etc.

With respect to the functionalities, Dataverse capacities leverage the same tenant and the infrastructure accrual across the single tenant. Also, watch out for the extensibility features along with the tabular level access for D365 F&SCM. and Commerce (if being considered).

Also, check out the PowerPlatform licensing guide Appendix B section where there is limited usage of Power Platform components for D365 F&SCM (Standard, Premium), Commerce details are provided. This means you get limited Power platform licenses packaged with D365 F&SCM, Commerce licenses.

    Hope this helps.

If you select “No – use a different Power Platform environment” and are not currently using Dual-write, Virtual Entities, or other Power Platform integrations, there will be no direct impact on licensing costs; however, you may miss out on upcoming Finance and Operations extensions — so consider activating early to maintain compatibility and receive full support from Microsoft after the deadline.

    Hi,

As announced earlier by Microsoft, LCS will be replaced in the future where environment administration will be moved to the Power Platform Admin Center.
For this purpose, all sandboxes and production environments should be linked to a Power Platform environment.

There is no impact on license cost as each Dynamics 365 F&O license comes with tenant and user based database and file capacity. In case you aren't using ant Power Platform related feature, to remain supported you will need to enable the Power Platform integration.
