Difference between Subscription List and Marketing List?

Hi all, apologies if this is a silly questions. 

I have read through all documentation and cannot seem to find an answer.

Under Subscription Lists section there is the option to create either Marketing Lists or Subscription Lists which can then be added to the subscription centre to allow users to opt in/ opt-out. 

But what is the difference in functionality between these two lists?

    Hi @ChrisLight ,

    Subscription list is a sub-type of a marketing list (or in other words a marketing list with this specific config (config on the screenshot below). )

    When you are creating a marketing form and want your contacts to opt in/out of different lists themselves, you can ONLY drag and drop one of your subscription lists on your form.

    From a database point of view, they are the same entity .
