PC Message Number 1532

Posted on by 782

Okay...SL2015 CU1 running on Server 2012 R2 in Terminal Services, SQL Server 2014.

Have a user who used to be a Project Employee, then wasn't and now is again. Back when he was a Project Employee, management decided that Passwords would be set for Project Employees so only the employee and the manager would be able to access time and expenses for the individual employee.

Well, he has slept since then and did not know his Project Employee Password. He was greeted with PC Message Number 1532. You must reset your password. Contact your system administrator for assistance. Which he did.

I opened password maintenance in Project Controller, entered Password Type EMP, Key Value is his user id and entered a new password for him.

He got the same results.

So I gave him access to the password maintenance screen, and asked him to update his password. He said he did, and got the same results.

So I went into password maintenance, updated the password again, tried to access a time card as him, same results. Then I decided to delete the password record through the password maintenance screen, thinking maybe this would delete the password requirement...nope, same results. So I re-added the password record, and tried again, same thing.

What I found to be interesting, down at the bottom of the password maintenance screen, I didn't see any of the "messages" that normally appear when you are updating or adding a new record...until I deleted it and went to re-add the password. I saw the "ready to insert new value" (or somesuch), but did not see the "record successfully inserted" message after hitting save.

Anywho...anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Chris

Okay, it was actually the record in pjsecure. there was no record for pjcontrol in there for this employee, but there was for pjsecure.

I deleted the record from pjsecure, opened time card entry for the employee and was able to open it with out a prompt for a password or an error message.

    Chris,

I am sorry to not get back to you sooner. I see you just opened a case with support to address this issue. To make sure your post is answered here for future reference, here is what we found:

It updates a couple tables, I see a bug reported in a MUCH older version regarding the resetting the password.

I’m assuming PJCONTRL is likely the problem (bug 7677)

    SELECT * FROM PJCONTRL WHERE control_code = LUPD_PROG = 'PAPWD'

I don’t know what they will find these days, I assume there is a record in there for the employee.

Delete it and then reset the password.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you
