So I noticed when i export a data entity project with an entity that has my initials then then the name.. I will see this name on the xml file instead of the label so how can i change this name?

Also if i have a field with my initials, the field will appear like this, can i change it?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Go To data management -> Data entity -> Delete the data entity -> click new and add the data entity again by only putting data entity name in 'Target entity' column, it would populate all the columns. now you can edit the 'Entity' column which is entity name.

As best practise you should add this entity name on 'Lable' property of Data entity, so You don't have to manually do above steps .

    Hi Vinit,

This is not what i meant.. As a best practice when we extend an entity we should use our initials with the standard name, same goes for adding new fields

So for example my new entityy is called ABSalesOrderEntity.. Now when i export the entity i will see a node called ABSalesOrderEntity in the xml format.. So want to rename this node in the xml and call it SalesOrderEntity and not in AOT Because in AOT it should be called ABSalesOrderEntity

    Hi,

When you say XML, what do you mean by that? How are you generating XML?

When u create an export project and choose the desired entity and choose the format you want to see the file in ( Example:xml) then u click export and you'll get a file

    Hi,

What do you see in UI when you add the data entity in the processing group? Can add some screenshots? whatever label you see in UI same is used as the file name.

Why is ABSalesOrderEntity a problem? The XML is not going to be read by humans, right? What is the business value in changing the name?

Anyway you should be able to use  xslt transformation in the export to transform the file any way you like. So, if you want to invest time and money, and think it generates value, anything can be done to the file.

    Hi Nikolaos,

can you explain more how to use xslt transformation?

    Hi vinit,

I'm not talking about the file name, i'm talking about the nodes name, so for example if you use a composite entity with two data entities, when you export the file and download it, you'll see two header nodes that has the name as the name of the entity not the label, so i wan to change that.

    Hi,

Got it!! If you are talking about XML content in the file then you need to use XSLT as mentioned by Nikolaos, XSLT is generic and you can search on the internet and can get tons of examples. To use it with D 365FO, check axexplorer.wordpress.com/.../ This will show how to set it up in D365FO.

As mentioned by Nikolaos, What business requirement is it going to satisfy and spend time on this accordingly.

Are you looking for an introduction to XSLT language, or you know how to write and debug XSLT and you're interested in how to use it on export from F&O?

We can't give you the right answer if it's not clear what you want.

    Hi Martin,

I think i need both. but let's say i know about it. When i create  a project and choose my entity then export, how i'm going to specify this xlst?

    Hi Vinit,

Thank, but it seems what you shared is for import not export, i think i need to do more reading on this. And if you have a specific link that would help then it would be great.
