Business Alert - Inventory

Posted on by 1,200

I need to create a business alert that will notify the user when a certain product has been selected to be shipped.  I am not familiar with the SQL code that is needed.  So far I have navigated through the Alert Set up, and am now stumped on the Define Alert Formula window.  I am assuming that the Table will use the Inventory Transaction Work, and the Column name will need to be IV Document Number, but I am not sure.  As far as the formula is concerned, I am not even sure how to start.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Greg,

The suggestion to use Smartlists and Tasks is a good one.  However, I will try to answer your initial question.

When you say "selected to be shipped" do you mean it has been ordered, allocated, or actually fulfilled?

If allocated then table IV00102 (Item Quantity Master), (field ATYALLOC) can be used.  As long as you select the correct table(s) then the formula window can be populated by point and click instead of typing.  You either add characters such as "=" or ">" by selecting them, or add columns from your selected table(s) with the "add column" button or add constants by typing your own value in (haven't done one in a while but I think you need quotes for text field conditions).

Another thing, if using IV00102 is to use the right location code (that corresponds to the Item Quantities window).  Thus, in a simple example your formula might end up being   IV00102_T1.ATYALLOC > 0  AND  IV00102_T1.LOCNCODE  = "MAIN"

If you want to use ordered, or fulfilled, you will need the Sales Transaction Amounts Work table (SOP10200).

    Hope this helps some.
