AX 2012 doesn't store user passwords. Instead, it uses Active Directory; that's where you can change passwords.

    Martin Dráb,

Thans sir for your reply, you mean to say if i want to change all user ids for example administrator id password it will not affect on any activity of the ax system; such as report system or any ax system activity.

    Best Regards,

    Shabir Ahmad

If you change password of users, it'll influence whether they can log into AX.

Services like AOS, SSRS etc. should be using service accounts, not user accounts.

You can get into troubles only if somebody failed to install the system correctly. If you believe it may be the case, you'll have to review all the services (and set up a better process).

It's technically possible, but it's not a good idea from security and management perspective. You would have a single super-powerful account (because would would have to give it a combination of all permissions it needs for any of these services, including interactive and batch login, capability to change data in all databases etc.), which means that security breach at any place impacts everything else. And it doesn't have to be an attack; it might be a mistake in configuration. And it'll cause the exact problem we're talking about here - that you can't safely change password of a user or a service because it's used at many places.

    Please don't do it.

Is there a configuration setting for ax 2012 r2 that delegates authentication to Active Directory?

No, it's not configurable. Active Directory is the only way.
