Proper AX 2012 Shutdown and Startup Procedures

I am getting started with AX and was looking for some proper shutdown procedures for an AX 2012 Environment consisting of an AOS Server, SQL Server, Enterprise Portal Server, and a Terminal Server.  I know it seems like a simple question but would like to get some guidelines to shutting down and starting up the environment as a whole.  Presently I stop the AOS and bring down the AOS then Terminal Server, then EP Server and finally SQL.  Bringing it back up is pretty much the reverse.  Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey Paul - Did you manage to document emergency shutdown procedures? Can you share please?

Thank you very much for that answer Gertjan.  That was very helpful and I really appreciate it.  I was surprised in all my online searches that I never found a checklist for shutdown/restart of AX.  I did not think about the IIS Reset on the EP so I missed that.  I am documenting emergency shutdown procedures so if we have to bring the entire environment down, what would be best practice.  Again thanks so much for your help.

Most important is that you always stop the AOS prior to stopping SQL server.

The correct sequence would be to stop accepting new clients in AX (which can be done in the online users form), ensure that everyone is logged of, stop the AOS and Terminal server if you want and stop the EP.

After restarting the SQL server always first start the AOS. Do not forget to execute an IISReset on the EP if you did not stop this during the reboot session. The same is valid for the reporting services. You can better restart those after an AOS restart to ensure that everything is working as expected.

    Hope this helps.
