Warehouse Worker - Inventory pick/put-away

We are setting up some basic warehousing for a customer. The customer will be using bin mandatory, require put-away, and require pick. This will create inventory picks and inventory put-aways. There will be warehouse workers using iPads in the warehouse for these movements. We are trying to find an adequate role for these warehouse workers. I thought I had found the appropriate role with the warehouse worker role, however, from what I can tell, this role only has visibility to warehouse picks and warehouse puts ways, not inventory picks and puts ways. The only role I could find that was close is Inventory Manager, which does seem to be able to see inventory picks and puts ways. Am I missing something here? We don’t really want the warehouse workers to have manager roles. My conclusion here is the only thing we can do is create a custom role based on inventory manager. Has anybody had some experience with this that can offer some guidance?

Thanks,

We’re using the mobile app on a tablet and while I’m aware pages can be accessed despite not seeing them on the role center, I’m not seeing the search glass on mobile app.

Hi, you can first copy the Inventory Manager role, and then use the Customize Pages function to modify the content displayed in the role.
    Customize pages for profiles

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

A Business Central profile is simply what a user sees on the page, essentially its a collection of a Role Center, and how each page is personalized (what fields are visible, the location of these fields, likewise for page actions). Its not the same as User Permissions, which is the area of the application a user has access to. Just because you don't see the link to a certain page in a role, doesn't mean that user's using that role won't have access to it if they permissions they have grant it. They can just search for that page and access it that way.

The name of a profile is really irrelevant. It's not something I would pay too much attention to and ensure it ties to a user's actual position. If the Inventory Manager role has all the actions you need, you can use it for your users even if they're not managers. Usually I look for an out of the box role that most closely resembles what I need, and then create a copy and modify it further for my needs.
