Org Charts for Contacts

I've seen that CRM now has the ability to build org charts rather than requiring any external plugins.

I've been struggling to find any documentation or online training that specifically deals with org charts for contacts.

I've been playing around with some of the settings but would rather not take the haphazard approach.

I can see you can chose options like Colleague and Employee, but I need to be able to define the reporting relationship structure better

Where can I find information on this?

A lot of the material I've seen so far just focuses on company relationships, not specifically employee/contact relationships

All response appreciated.

    Hi Edna

The Org Chart is only for Users, You would still need a plug in for it to work with contacts

Yes, its an org chart generated by users which illustrates user contacts "in" CRM - Its not for our contacts to access.

You can see user generated contact org charts in this video

I can already start to build them, but I just need some additional information on how to work correctly with hierarchy

    Ok, So Account/Contact Hierarchy -

Have you created a new relationship or enabled a current one to use contacts in this way?

OOTB there are 2 that are set up (Account/Contact) but they are set to no as standard

So the main question is do you want to create the chart based on their links with other people (i.e boss, staff member)

or do you want to set it based on the hierarchical setting of the account?

Ideally it would be to show the contacts hierarchy within their own company, so that we can do things like say this guy reports to this guy and this person is the overall manager. I'm just not sure how to make those connections yet.

In that instance when you set up your Hierarchy settings on the contact entity use the account relationship - this will do that for you

So Person A Works for Company A

and Person B Works for Company B

and Company B is the Child of Company A

Then using Account as the relationship then the org chart would show Person A higher than Person B
