Dynamics GP Mass Delete Customers - What are the specifics?

We'd like to delete old customers.  It is apparent to me that when running Mass Delete of Customers that it will delete those customers that have a 0 balance and have no history on file.  (Therefore, we would need to go through a process of removing paid transactions and deleting history as of a certain date a few years ago.)

Makes sense so far... but what about customers we may have just added - that have no history yet.  Seems like it would delete them too.  (But to be fair, that would seem to be a very few number of customers, if any.)

Does someone have a script that will delete customers, but ONLY those that were added several years ago (?) or somehow give us a little more control over which customers actually get deleted?

Or perhaps a way to mark all those customers as inactive, and therefore we can just Mass Delete the Inactive ones?

Not bad, Marlena... Thanks for the suggestion to use the list.  Very handy.

    Hi Brian,

I would suggest use of list. It allows you to select customers that you like to delete.

Also, I would recommend removing customers from inside of GP instead of using a script. Customer information exists in many tables so unless script will address all of those tables it is much cleaner to remove records by doing it from inside of GP.

You can also use add filter function, update new customer type to new and select to exclude those from the list. Easy and clean way to do it. Add filter is right above the list of customers.

To access customer list, select sales module and customer in navigation pane to the left.

    Marlena
