Dear Experts,
I would like to update WHSWork report, by removing item/order number bar code and replacing it with additional field such as item/order name.
How do I add item/order name on SSRS report if the field is not available within VS WHSWorkReport project DS?

Hey There,

To add any new feild in report, Few steps to follow

1 - Add String Field in Temp table (DataSource) of WHSWorkReport

2- Assign value to field (item/order name Value) in RDP

3 - Refresh your Datasource of report in Visual Studio so that it gets available in field list

4 - replace field with new fieldname

5 - Deploy the report

If thats Query Report, U have to create display method on WHSWorkTable for orderName, that will also be available as a field in repot. Still no need to RDP class

Thank you for you quick replies. I`m still learning on how to edit these reports. Where do I need to add this method, for me to enable to add both fields in VS report designer?

Hi Agha/Crispin,

Much appreciate your support. I managed to replace Item barcode with item name by adding "displayItemName" method from WHSWorkLine table in VS.

However my code knowledge is 0, so I`m unsure how to write the code/method to display Order name.

Hi Crispin,

OrderNum is only displaying order number, however I would need to replace barcode next to it with production order name.

Did a quick google search how display methods work and I wrote my very first code.

I added below code as method in WHSWorkTable,

Updated SSRS report by adding above method as field in VS project.

Hi Crispin,

After deploying the report back to AOT and running the report from user account - order name field is left blank when in print preview, however when I looked in VS project print preview, fields are displaying correctly. What possibly be causing the issue? Is that the code method I wrote?
