Initialize retail parameters in existing working company

Good Evening All,

We are using Dynamics AX R3. We have two retail companies setup in AX. For one company we did initialize parameters (Retail > Setup > Parameters > Retail Parameters > Initialize) and after then transactions were started. For another company we forgot to initialize parameters and already transactions are started.

Now in second company if we do initialize parameters will it affect existing setup and transactions? Is it feasible to do initialize parameters after the transactions are started?

Regards,

Brijen

    Hi Brijen,

It would be possible to initialize it. However there might be a risk. You have to test it carefully in a test environment first. Possibly, you can also check (development skills required) what exactly will be executed when you run this initialization to estimate the impact.

Good Morning André Arnaud de Calavon,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I am concerned that if I run retail initialization in new company, will it affect existing company or only in new company data will be created or updated? Will initialization make any changes in posted transactions?

    Regards,

    Brijen

When you initialize retail in an existing environment, it will recreate all the missing objects. If you edited/ split any retail jobs, it will be reset back to the original configuration

    Hi Brijen,

For sure, the initialization will not make changes in posted transactions. Have a look at the reply from Mahmoud as well. Don't forget to test it in a separate environment.

Thanks a lot  André for your inputs.

As you have suggested, we ran initialization on TEST environment and identified it generated missing records in few tables. Actually when we upgraded to CU9 two years back we didn't run initialization after upgrade. So now when we ran initialization it generated some records which were introduced in CU9 upgrade.

Will this new records make any impact on existing POS operations? Till now our POS operations are working fine without any issues.

    Hi Brijen,

I'm not clear-sighted to know what exactly you had setup and which tables were initialized by this action. So, you have to test it yourself.

    Hi André,

Thanks once again for your support. I will thoroughly test and check the impacts if any.
