D365 Outlook Tracking Pane - Search Behavior

Hi, question about the searching behavior for the tracking pane for D365 for Outlook. Seems that the lookup for searching returns a relevance search like results, it is searching for the duick find fields and returns relavant matches. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I would like to see the return values as how I configured the Lookup view. To always show the Customer name and the Owner in the search results. Any idea?

Thanks Lu Hao! I agree, also confirmed with MS that this is a limitation. All the best!

    Hi Marjorie,

This is by design. We can't change it currently.

    The reason:

If we want to add a custom field into the relevance search, we need to add this field as a find column in the Quick Find View.

If we want to add a custom field into Outlook Regarding lookup, we also need to add this field as a find column in the Quick Find View.

Their search fields are exactly the same, so the search results will be the same.

    Alternative solution:

If you don't want to use relevance search and just want to use Categorized Search, you could:

    1) First click on the Search button in the upper right corner of App for Outlook, then search for the record to be tracked and enter its detailed interface.

    2) Click the Set Regarding button to the right of the record name. So it will be tracked

Hi all, to add, seems that when I search without any value in the lookup, it shows the expected fields which I configured in the Lookup view. However, when we search for a string it returns the same results as how the Relevance Search does.
