How do I enter a sales order without affecting inventory

Posted on by 55

I am trying to enter a sales order for an inventory item, however I want to do this for the sales price only, and therefore would not like to transact an inventory transaction.  In other words I want the sales history to be updated for that item, but would like to suppress the inventory transaction so that no inventory quantities are transacted or any costs of sales is recorded.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

One way to do this would be to enter an increase and a decrease for the same item on an invoice.  For example, you sold item ABC for $50, but it should have been $60.  You could enter an SOP Invoice with the following line items:

Item ABC     Qty -1     Price $50     Ext Price -$50

Item ABC     Qty 1      Price $60     Ext Price $60

Overall price increases by $10, inventory has a net 0 qty change.
