Transaction does not contain a required signature during purchase order confirmation

Hi all,

I'm trying to use Electronic Signature in Dynamics AX 2012 while performing a purchase order confirmation, I've tried by using PurchParmTable since I require the user to sign for the purchase order before clicking "OK", but I always get this error:

"Transaction does not contain a required signature"

How do I solve this issue? should I use another table, if so, which one would you recommend? Thanks in advanced!

    Hi saman0suke,

This electronic signature will probably not work here. What exact setting was done on this table? Create, Update?

Why aren't you using a workflow for a "signature"? What is the purpose of having the signature for your business?

The digital signature is usually used for a mandatory database log which cannot be deleted in a simple way.

They basically want to "print" the name of the user that approved the purchase order confirmation in the actual report, so I assumed the best way was to ask for a signature before completing the confirmation process.

I did not select any operation, I left it as "Always". Any suggestion or workaround to make it work? They explicitly asked to use E-signature.

    Thanks!

    Hi saman0suke,

I agree with Andre that the electronic signature is probably not the right instrument for your purpose. The standard electronic signature feature can be used if you change master data related for example to BOMs, customers, vendors. For process related changes, you are probably better of using workflows.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thank you both. I might understand that from functional purposes it might not be the best approach, but this was working previously; I kind of defined a working solution and the signature request form was showing up properly when I tested it using the PurchTable until it suddenly stopped showing up and now I get this error. Do you know which could be the reasons for that? maybe some tables storing bad data?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The issue is that the PurchParmTable is getting updated in the background. As there is at time of purchase order, which updates a status field in this table, no user who can interact to provide another digital signature for this update and this error will be raised.

There is a field Purchaser and Orderer (or similar names) which can also be used to print on the PO document.

Also on the PurchTable status fields will be updated during posting processes. Here the signature will also not work. Unless you want to customize the system to bypass some database logging during several posting processes....

I do apologize since my knowledge with Electronic signature is basic, but, am I understanding correctly? any table that is being modified in the background will break the E-signature logic? only tables updated by the user works? I would appreciate more details on how this works, it will be really useful for me to understand the whole workflow.

    Thanks!

    Hi saman0suke,

It will indeed only work for tables only edited by users. Background processes are missing the required signature dialog.

You can find information about the feature starting on the next page: technet.microsoft.com/.../dd309718.aspx
