The RDLC layouts are rendered as pdf files, and so interactive sorting is not supported.

Switching to a WORD layout, as Josh proposes,  is not a solution, as that does not support any interactive features or scripting.

You can provide sorting options in the request page.

You can export the report to Excel, and sort in Excel.

In BC V20 Excel Layouts are introduced, you could use that, in Excel you can then create tables/pivot tables,... and use filters, slicers, sorting, pivots,...

Power BI has very good sorting/filtering options, but requires you to create/use APIs to import the data and create a new report.

Power BI is seen as the place to have that type of capability as it’s baked in to most visuals. RDLC is very much on the bench these days. Documents are suggested to be in word and reports in power bi.
