We utilize terminal server and our UK sub logs in this way. They have a seperate dictionary that has the UK modified reports(SOP blank etc...). However, when the UK prints to the screen the format is a bit off(lines not touching) and they cannot seem to print the invoice to their local printer but can print journals. When I print ot screen the same format it looks perfectly fine. Has anyone run across this before and is this a terminal server issue, GP issue, or the fact that the Uk uses different paper size? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ian just wanted to thank you for all your help. I ended up having ot go to MS anyway because after installng the A4 file the reports still had some formatting issues that were very random. Still waiting on them by the way.
Hi Floyd, are you logged in as a local admin? Try running GP as Administrator.
Also check the properties of the .cnk file - is it protected / read only etc.
Do you have a customised Dynamics forms dictionary?
If so - point the .set file you are using to a local directory with no forms.dic and retry.
In fact you could try starting with virgin forms and reports dictionaries - just to rule out any corruption of these.
Ian.
Ian, thanks again for all your help. The A4 install is in the add/remove programs on the GP install. It seems to only drop a chunk file on the TS because when I ran it on the SQL server no chunk file was dropped. In any event the chunk file will not unchunk. Every time I launch GP it crashes and the file does not unchunk. The error has very little detail and simple states an APP crash. Any ideas?
The A4 chunk works with graphic reports [165 reports approx.] - modifying them to suit A4 sized paper by extending the report sections / moving margins etc. Pure text reports are OK as these are printer setting independent. When installed it updates the Dynamics.dic. It doesn't update the current Reports.dic you are using. So if you had existing modified reports these would stay as they are...but the original version would be updated, which you could then re-modify.
You could install the A4 chunk for your UK users. You would need two installs of GP, one for US and one for UK - then publish the relevant Icon on the users RDP desktop. Easiest would be to install GP exactly as you have for the US into a separate application folder...and then apply the A4 chunk to that.
Note that after installing the chunk - you won't see it mentioned in the Dynamics.set file or notice any difference in the GP version numbers - its a 'silent' chunk.
sorry Floyd, im not sure what the A4 chunk actually does. I came across it as I have the opposite problem than what the a4 chunk it for. Where it makes a4 reports out of north American letter sized paper software I have a VAR in Scotland that has written a4 reports, and I need them to be letter reports.
Ok I will check into that. I have already split the dictionaries (Dynamics and Reports) to a UK and US version. Is ther a way to get it to alter the Uk version and not the US version? Also would this cause the problem of the invoice not printing?
hi Floyd
You can still get them from Dave's (the blogger) site
www.winthropdc.com/development.html
it looks like the last one was GP v 10, not 2010. Now whether that means 2010 has it included im not sure.
The 'chunk' is available on the GP CD. Re run the install and choose to update your current instance - in the additional products section, the first product is A4.
Have you looked at localisation for the RDP users? Are their printer settings defaulting to A4 or Letter size when they log in? Best to check the printer set up through the GP interface.
This definitely works fine as we have many clients doing just this.
When you are modifying the report - make sure you are logged in as a UK domain user to RDP - that way, what you see on screen will be what they see.
Ian.
Thanks Ian. I can't seem to locate the chunk file and I am not sure it applies to GP2010. The readme seem to point to version 10. I could not locate the chunk file on Customersource and the article basically stated it(the article) was archived. Any other suggestions or do you know where to find the chunk file?
hi Floyd
bit of an older blog but have a look at this re GP and A4 paper
