MPOS cannot be paired with shared Hardware Station - "There was a problem communicating with the hardware station."

Hello,

I tried to pair my shared hardware station with my MPOS today.

The shared hardware station runs on a different windows 10 device and has the IP: xxx.xxx.x.xxx

The MPOS runs on a windows 10 device as well.

Both devices are in the same network.

Pinging the IP of the shared hardware station from the MPOS device was successful.

The MPOS says: There was a problem communicating with the hardware station.

The event logs state the following:

When I click the link of the error message it returns this:

Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this?

I have already tried different devices with little success.

The only time I was able to pair the MPOS with the shared hardware station was when I hosted the MPOS on a VM that was running on the same device as the shared hardware station.

Thank you very much for your help in advance!

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for the update; and if you get a chance I would recommend adding your comments to the Docs page where more information is needed.

I have done this myself; and seen additional information added as requested.

    Thanks again.

    Hello Todd,

we have solved the issue. The problem was the self signed certificate. I used this online tutorial to create our certificates and install them accordingly and it works perfect now:

    https://www.joji.me/en-us/blog/how-to-create-an-iis-website-that-requires-client-certificate-using-self-signed-certificates/

Mirosoft should really step up there game to make their docs website more fail prove, add more suggestions to trouble shooting and give more detailed information about the single steps necessary.

Hope this helps others as well!

    Hi Michael,

Can you ensure that “/hardwarestation/ping” is appended  to the end of the URL you are testing with?

    Thanks, Todd

    Hello Todd,

    thanks for your quick reply.

I have created a completely new shared hardware station with the computer name (of the machine on which the sHWS is hosted) as host name.

When I try to ping this url now I receive an error that the page cannot be securely connected to. (see screenshots)

When I try to open the URL of the shared HWS I get the following error:

NOTE: I have edited your thread to remove the IP address as this is a public forum.

    Hi Michael,

In reviewing the ping test that was run, this is not valid.

It shows an SSL Security warning in the browser as you are using the  IP Address instead of the actual url name.

I would suggest running a ping test with the actual URL name value as it is setup on the Hardware Station tab in HQ.

If everything is properly working then you should not get an SSL certificate error in the browser.

    Hopefully this helps.
