Company is presently using GP 18.2.1060.
When will they have to update in order to stay current?
What version would you recommend they update to?
Are there any reported issues with updating from GP 18.2.1060 to the recommended version?
GP 18.x is Modern Life Cycle. Here is the state of the release:Dynamics GP - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Docs[If you aren't familiar with Modern Life Cycle, there is a reference to it in the above link.]
The current release is 18.3x. With the move to Modern Life Cycle, we have just completed a year-long push to get the majority of our clients current and on board with updating much more often, reducing the number of multi-hop upgrades that take a weekend to complete. You can learn more about the October 2020 release here:(+) Microsoft Dynamics GP (2020) New Feature Blog Series Schedule! - Microsoft Dynamics GP CommunityThere is also a hotfix/year-end update to bring the version up to the current 18.3.1245 release. (1099-NEC is a major reason to get current.)There are always reported issues with new releases. For GP 18.3, the main one I read about on the forums are issues with the drillback from Excel. Here is a recent post about it: The drillback link to posted journal entries does not work in GP 2018.3 - Microsoft Dynamics GP Forum Community Forum
Is it possible to update from GP 18.2.1060 to 18.3x, or is an intermediate update required?
You can go from GP 18.2.1060 to GP 18.3.1245.
Just watch out for the issue drilling back to GP from Excel.
