why is my New Fixed Asset tick box greyed out on PO line details?

I am configuring our FA module initially in test environment.  I have ticked all the purchasing boxes on the FA parameters form to allow creation and acquisition from purchasing, but no luck.  Our PO's are auto-created from requisitions, but I want the procurement team to review and tick this box on the PO prior to confirmation when required to allow for automatic asset creation upon receipt or invoicing.

The box is greyed out though whatever I do.  Anyone know why this is? (AX2012R2 CU7)

thanks

    Hello Axfinance,

Can you check whether your fixed asset groups are setup with a capitalization threshold and whether the fixed assets that you purchase have a value that is above this capitalization threshold?

Please also check your fixed asset paraemeters in regards to the capitalization threshold setup and whether the fixed assets that you want to create surpass this threshold.

A third place to look for is the setup in the procurement and sourcing module (setup-fixed assets). If you are working with purchase requisitions and those requisitions do not meet the criteria setup in those forms, no fixed asset is generated.

    All the best,

    Ludwig

    hi Ludwig,

The capitalisation threshold throughout is £1000, on Parameters form and also all the FA groups.  The PO is for £1500.  There is nothing set up under the Procurement/Set up/FA area yet for either FA identifiers or business rules for FA determination.

    regards

    Hello AXfinance,

When you open your purchase requisition, select the purchase requisition line you refer to and then click on the details button, AX should open a new form for you that has a fixed assets section. Can you identify whether a fixed asset group has been filled in the asset group field or is this field empty?

there is no FA information on the requisition at all, we have 400+ potential requisitioners who do not understand 'Fixed Assets', it is the small Procurement team who can be trained to identify when to tick the 'new fixed asset box' but this isn't available.

    thanks, AXF

    Hello AXfinance,

The issue is that AX makes an assessment whether a fixed asset shall be created or whether the amount shall be expensed already at the time the purchase requisition is recorded.

Once it is transferred to the PO - in your case through an auto-creation - the assessment is already done and you cannot change things later on.

I just found this blog posts that provides you some additional information on the process.

Probably take a look and adjust your setup correspondingly.

    All the best,

    Ludwig

thanks Ludwig that makes sense, but causes me another problem to get around.  That's really helpful though, many thanks

for the benefit of other users, I've also discovered that if I raise a PO directly (no requisition) against a project, I have no 'new FA' access.  If I raise the same PO without a project, it is available again.  I can't see anything in the projects module to set up Fixed Assets to remedy this though.
