Inventory Allocations

Hi there,

We are currently doing a physical inventory and noticed that inventory items currently have a status of allocated.  Could someone please explain how these allocations work and when they are cleared from the system?  Is this done through the inventory  reconcile process?  Thank you.

If you are doing a stock count, once the actual qtys have been entered against the items, and once the process button on the stock count is pressed. Then assuming you have not also checked the autopost check box, a variance inventory transaction will be created for the items in question and for qty amounts in question.

This transaction will be in your Item Transaction Entry window, use the scroll buttons to look for it.

This inventory transaction will have the items allocated to it until you post that inventory transaction, at that time the variance will be applied to your site quantities, and the allocation will go and your stock quantities will change.

Just think of the stock count window as just a wizard to generate inventory transactions for large numbers of items at once.

    Tim.

Do the items appear on the Item Allocation Report? If not then I believe it is either checklinks or inventory reconcile that resolves this.
